High Quality Classroom Instruction

Research has demonstrated that most reading problems can be prevented by providing high-quality classroom reading instruction in the early grades, along with supplemental intervention for students who need it. In the introductory article for this section, Carolyn Denton, of the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston, introduces that research and emphasizes how classroom reading instruction can have a large impact on the progress of students with reading difficulties.
