Judy Elliott, David Prasse, and Ann Casey. RTI Interview Series:
Debra Jennings on Engaging Families in RTI

In the latest video, Debra Jennings, Executive Co-Director of the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network, describes the questions parents need answered so that they can act as partners in ensuring that their children find success in school. She notes parents need to know what RTI is, how they will be alerted if there is a problem, and what kind of help their child will receive. Watch the video for a parent leader's perspective on RTI.

QUESTION OF THE MONTH

Why are you supporting RTI at the high school level when the research base for high school efficacy is not particularly strong?

The core principles of RTI have the potential to address the often dire consequences of school failure (e.g. alienation, dropping out, anti-social behavior) at the high school level. Barbara Ehren, professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and Director of the Doctoral Program at the University of Central Florida, explores RTI’s efficacy in preventing school failure in response to this question of the month.
