Catherine (Cara) Richards-Tutor, Ph.D.

Catherine (Cara) Richards-Tutor, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at California State University, Long Beach where she recently received the Early Career Achievement Award. She has taught in both special education and general education and worked as a reading specialist for at-risk students. Her research and publications focus on interventions for students at-risk for learning disabilities, instruction for English Learners, and the Response to Intervention framework. Currently, Dr. Richards-Tutor is working with school districts implementing Response to Intervention and is a Co –Principal Investigator with the Center for Research on the Educational Achievement and Teaching of English Language Learners (CREATE) funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
